It’s with great sadness we recognize the sudden passing of one of our Tampa Own, Juan “El Chacho” Cheverez. We lost Chacho on January 26th, 2024. Our friends commemorated his life on February 2nd, 2024, in Clearwater at Veterans Funeral Care; where we were all asked to wear Blue and Red verses Black in true Chacho form. We were in the process of building our new blog space, so it is only appropriate that the first post be about Chacho.
Chacho lit up the dance floor wherever he went… literally because he was known as a DJ Chacho spinning up the beats at Sugar Sand Festival, CLAVE Latin Night by Relpro, and even at IRÔKO’s December Extravaganza event and more. He brought the beats and the smiles with his warm touch.
He was known for proposing to the love of his life at Baila Tampa’s dance festival after meeting her there before… keeping perfect rhythm on the bongos/congas… spinning the perfect next song to keep the dancers on the floor and most of all a friend and family member to our Tampa Community.
Chacho, we will forever miss and love you. Thank you for your contributions to our community. Until we meet again...
